All upcoming event details are currently posted on Facebook. To participate in our metal detecting events, please join our Facebook group. You can find upcoming events under the ‘Events’ tab. We usually announce events 1-2 weeks in advance, but the unpredictable nature of farming can affect this.

The event listings provide essential details, including general location for travel planning and instructions on ground conditions or dog policies. Please read these details carefully before booking. We also share interesting local history and any nearby notable finds on the listing. Join our Facebook group now to stay updated and book your next adventure!

We will share the exact location details for our events on our Facebook group around 5-6pm the evening before the event takes place. Please inform us immediately if you can no longer attend an even you have booked onto. This allows us to offer your spot to another of our members as our events are usually in high demand and have limited spaces. Please note that frequent no-shows after booking may lead to a ban from future events.

Upon arrival, please have your dig fee ready. Our events usually run from 8.45am to 5pm, but you can arrive from 8am. If you plan to come late or leave early, inform an organizer ahead of time to ensure smooth parking and participation.

We provide a digital map on Facebook to all members before the event. Feel free to detect at your leisure, within the designated boundaries, unless instructed otherwise. Please post any interesting finds to the Facebook group to show the landowner and other members. Alternatively, you can show them to an organizer or admin who will photograph and share them for you. Any important updates throughout the day, such as new fields being opened, will be posted to the event.

To join our metal detecting events, you will need basic equipment. At the very least, its essential to bring a metal detector, a spade or shovel, and a container for any finds and scrap. We suggest also bringing a pinpointer for an easier detecting experience. Dress appropriately for the weather and terrain, and remember to bring any refreshments you might need. Our standard metal detecting events cost £20 per person, payable on arrival. Non-detecting companions can usually join for free. Weekend camping events will cost more and generally need payment in advance. Be aware, event prices may vary with circumstances and location.

Please show any significant or unusual finds to our on-site organisers and admins to be photographed and shared with the Facebook community. Potential treasure finds must be legally declared to the relevant authorities, failure to do so could lead to prosecution. We have a written find agreement with all landowners for our events. You are free to keep any non-treasure items valued under £1,000, but any non-treasure items exceeding £1,000 in value must be shared with the landowner. If an item is declared treasure and purchased by the museum, you and the landowner will each receive 50% of the total value.

At larger or weekend events, we provide on-site toilets and catering. However, due to the small size and remote locations of most events, such facilities are usually not available. We recommend bringing enough food and drink for the day. If needed, there is usually plenty of room to find a quiet, secluded spot for privacy. For extra privacy, consider buying a portable personal toilet online.

You might be able to bring your dog to some metal detecting events, depending on the landowner’s rules and nearby livestock. We’ll specify in the event details if dogs are allowed. Please contact us beforehand if you want to bring your dog. For everyone’s safety, please keep your dog on a lead throughout the event.

Sometimes, farming issues or extreme weather forecasts may force us to cancel a metal detecting event. We’ll try to find another location, but it’s not always possible. We’ll quickly inform members about cancellations or location changes. For events needing advance payment, like camping weekends, we’ll give a full refund if we cancel.

Our events usually host 40 to 80 participants, depending on available land and parking. We understand our members have different preferences, while some like the social interaction, others prefer solitude. To accommodate both, we allocate approximately 0.75 to 1.5 acres of land per detectorist.
